Jax Skyline Setter Challenge

Last week, we saw a video on Twitter of a player out of Kansas who has been doing a lot of different challenges on her account. We were very impressed, so we challenged our setters to see how many consecutive sets they could do with two volleyball. Her record was 81 (click here to see it).

We got this yesterday and congratulations to Amelia Thieman from our 16 Royal on getting 99! Can anyone beat her???

Sunshine Classic- 14 Royal

In light of the current hiatus from practices and competitions, we’re going to feature highlight some of our teams from the Sunshine Classic National Qualifier recently. No one celebrates or has quite as much as our 14 Royal team. Tons of talent and energy.

Despite winning their Day 1 pool by going undefeated and then ending up in a 3-way tie for 1st on Day 2, the new tie-breaking procedures unfortunately sent 14 Royal to the Bronze bracket, where they were one win away from a championship.

This is a club-best finish at a qualifier and we look forward to more team and club success as Jax Skyline continues to grow!

Jax Skyline Dominates Tallahassee

What a weekend in Tallahassee for our teams at the Capital City Classic hosted by ProStyle Volleyball Club! Both 12 Royal and 16 Royal finished in 1st place in the Gold Division, while 13 Royal, 14 Royal and 15 Royal placed 2nd in the Gold Division.

Our athletes are improving at a great rate and it isn’t a surprise that when you focus on fundamental skill and doing it the right way, success follows. Keep up the good work.

Now we’re off to Orlando for the Sunshine National Qualifier this weekend. Good luck, teams!

Not Your Standard Warmup

We like to say that you haven’t seen a warmup until you’ve seen a Coach Steph warmup! This isn’t your circle stretch and run around the court a couple times. Our dynamic warmup keeps our athletes always moving, but also includes elements of speed and strength training that is such an important part of the development of young athletes. And if you’re lucky…you get a day when you’re competing!!

Skyline Teams Compete in First Tournament

Our travel teams competed in their first tournaments this past weekend. At Jacksonville Skyline, we dedicate the majority of our training time in the first couple months of the club season to fundamental skill work- with just a small touch of offensive and defensive systems.

Our primary focus and goal of the club is to get each of our athletes as technically sound as possible so that their skills can translate to wherever they are playing in the following season: be it middle school or high school. With this focus, we do our best to ensure that our athletes are prepared to play in ANY system and as they continue through the program, this will be essential for those with goals of playing in college.

That being said, we did see some great team performances this past weekend.

  • Both our 12 Royal and 14 Black teams finished 2nd in Gold in their tournaments at PVA down in Lake Helen
  • At the local Jax Jam Regional Ranking Tournament, we saw 3rd place Gold Bracket finishes from both 14 Royal and 16 Royal, while 15 Royal finished 5th in Gold

It was a great weekend and we look forward to playing in two weekends In Tallahassee!

January Core Training

At Jacksonville Skyline, we take great pride in offering more than elite-level volleyball training to our athletes. Our Core Training program focuses on speed, agility, quickness, vertical jump, explosion and conditioning. These are some of the best days with our athletes. We get to watch them gain confidence, compete and bond with each other.

Winter and Spring Club Prep Dates Announced

Our Club Prep program is back! Over the last 6 months, not only have our travel teams doubled in size, so has our extremely popular Club Prep Academy. Club Prep focuses on developing young volleyball athletes not yet committed to travel volleyball.

Go to our CLUB PREP page to learn more and to register. Our fall Club Prep completely filled and had a wait list of over 10 athletes, so be sure to sign up before it’s too late.
