Congratulations to our 11 Royal team on finishing 2nd at the PVA Winter Jam this past Saturday. This was the first tournament for the 11 Royal team that just started practicing together for the first time in early January. This is a fun group of young athletes that has a lot of potential!

Jacksonville Skyline Announces VERT Partnership
November 14, 2017
Jacksonville, FL – Jacksonville Skyline Juniors Volleyball Club has announced that VERT Technologies has chosen Jacksonville Skyline as a VERT Select Program. This partnership is aimed at providing technology that can give real-time physical performance data in an effort to keep Skyline athletes healthy and as free as possible from lower body injuries.
The VERT partnership is Jacksonville Skyline’s 2nd major corporate partnership, as Skyline is also partners with Adidas. Additionally, both Adidas and VERT are official partners of USA Volleyball- outfitting and providing performance technology for both our women’s and men’s Olympic National Teams.
While VERT is the official wearable technology of USA Volleyball, it is also used by over 200 collegiate and professional teams. “As former college coaches, we are strong believers in VERT and the products they offer programs and athletes,” said Hugh Hernesman, Co-Director for Jacksonville Skyline. “We have real-life experience using the product while we coaching college and it completely changed the way we looked at practice design and athlete well-being. This will be a great partnership for our club and its members.”

Hanging Out With the Gators
We had a chance yesterday to stop by and sit in on #12 ranked Florida Volleyball’s preseason practice down at Flagler College. Enjoyed getting to catch up with the Florida staff, who have been great supporters and friends to us. What a talented team and group of dedicated student-athletes.
Really enjoyed watching this team train. Our training styles are very similar, but got some additional ideas that we look forward to using in the gym. We’ll continue to make the rounds this fall to sit in on different collegiate practices. Going to be a great fall!
Skyline Comes to Jacksonville!
Skyline Juniors is very excited to announce that we are now offering a juniors volleyball club in Jacksonville!! Skyline was established in Dallas, TX in 1999 and has grown into a nationally recognized club that consistently competes for USA Volleyball National Championships. Since it’s inception, Skyline has successfully established satellite clubs in Houston, TX and Austin, TX- which are both competing at the national level as well.
Our main goal is to provide a fun, family environment with elite training that will help our players who strive to compete at their next level. For some athletes, that’s as simple as making their middle school or high school team. For others, it is to earn a prominent role on those teams. And for others, there is a strong desire to compete at the collegiate level. Whatever those goals are, Jacksonville Skyline has the leadership and experience to do just that!
Our staff is led by Hugh and Stephanie Hernesman, who have a combined 40 years of college coaching experience across all levels. Known for taking on major rebuilding projects, Hugh and Stephanie have worked under some of the best volleyball coaches- including four-time AVCA National Coach of the Year Kris Russell, current Florida Gators Associate Head Coach Dave Boos and former USA National Team Assistant Coach and Lead Trainer Erikka Gulbranson. Using this knowledge and building upon what they learned, the Hernesman’s were able to successfully run their own college programs for half of their careers.
Additionally, Hugh and Stephanie have strong experience working with young athletes. They’ve started their own juniors club from scratch and built it up to over 120 athletes in just three years in the isolated city of Abilene, TX. They both worked for Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club coaching their top 15’s team- coaching them to a 2nd Place finish in the Open Division of USA Volleyball’s Junior National Championship in 2002. Hugh and Stephanie have over 50 years of combined youth camp and clinic experience- including 5 years of working with the USA Volleyball High Performance program in various roles and regions.
From our staff here at Jacksonville Skyline, we are very excited to become a part of the Jacksonville community by helping to grow character of our youth, do our part in improving the level of volleyball in the region and growing our volleyball family!
