JACKSONVILLE, FL, 1/19/21— Jacksonville Skyline has finalized a lease for a full-time volleyball and training facility to open in the summer of 2021. “This is a game changer for our club,” said Co-Owner Hugh Hernesman. “Since we started Jacksonville Skyline in July of 2017 our goal has been to provide the very best for our athletes and their families. This gives us a full-time home that we can call our own.”
The 20,280 square foot facility will have space for 4 training courts and a 2,500 square foot performance and strength room. Additionally, there will be over 3,500 square feet of office space for coaches offices, a conference room, a Pro Shop, concessions and restrooms. It is located at 7022 AC Skinner Parkway- right in the middle of Jacksonville and conveniently accessible from the Jacksonville, Yulee/Fernandina, Orange Park and St. John’s County areas.
“Our club has grown tremendously in the past 3½ years. We started with 3 travel teams and are currently at 12 teams for the 2020-21 travel season,” said Hernesman. “It has been exciting to watch our athletes develop over the past three seasons and we have welcomed in over 70 families to our Skyline Family this club season alone. With this influx of families, we have also seen a large addition of some of the most talented and potential-rich athletes in Jacksonville. We look forward to serving our members in an even more efficient way and with additional training options.”
A general contractor will be selected in the coming days to work on the project. A capital campaign has been established to assist with the one-time construction and equipment expenses.
