Our travel teams competed in their first tournaments this past weekend. At Jacksonville Skyline, we dedicate the majority of our training time in the first couple months of the club season to fundamental skill work- with just a small touch of offensive and defensive systems.
Our primary focus and goal of the club is to get each of our athletes as technically sound as possible so that their skills can translate to wherever they are playing in the following season: be it middle school or high school. With this focus, we do our best to ensure that our athletes are prepared to play in ANY system and as they continue through the program, this will be essential for those with goals of playing in college.
That being said, we did see some great team performances this past weekend.
Both our 12 Royal and 14 Black teams finished 2nd in Gold in their tournaments at PVA down in Lake Helen
At the local Jax Jam Regional Ranking Tournament, we saw 3rd place Gold Bracket finishes from both 14 Royal and 16 Royal, while 15 Royal finished 5th in Gold
It was a great weekend and we look forward to playing in two weekends In Tallahassee!
At Jacksonville Skyline, we take great pride in offering more than elite-level volleyball training to our athletes. Our Core Training program focuses on speed, agility, quickness, vertical jump, explosion and conditioning. These are some of the best days with our athletes. We get to watch them gain confidence, compete and bond with each other.
Our Club Prep program is back! Over the last 6 months, not only have our travel teams doubled in size, so has our extremely popular Club Prep Academy. Club Prep focuses on developing young volleyball athletes not yet committed to travel volleyball.
Go to our CLUB PREP page to learn more and to register. Our fall Club Prep completely filled and had a wait list of over 10 athletes, so be sure to sign up before it’s too late.
We’re celebrating our partnership with Jax Beach Volleyball by hosting two beach volleyball clinics together. These 2-hour clinics will be a great intro to the sport and run by the experts in the sport!
Due to high demand for our clinics in the last 6 months, we recommend registering early before the clinics fill up! CLICK HERE to register.
We’ve been patiently waiting to expand our club offerings to beach volleyball and the time has come! Jacksonville Skyline is extremely excited to announce a partnership with Jax Beach Volleyball to offer our athletes the very best beach volleyball training in the region.

Back by popular demand, our Skill Clinic series are back after a wildly successful turnout this past summer. Our Friday night Skill Clinics focus on four fundamental areas:
– Serving – Attacking – Passing/Defense – Setting
Each clinic is 1-hr long and features training from Hugh and Steph Hernesman. Hugh and Steph are currently at Nease high school after a 20+ year career as college coaches. After finishing their college careers at Clemson University to focus on their own children, Hugh and Steph partnered with one of the top clubs in the country- Dallas Skyline to bring high-level training to Jacksonville!
Sign up for one clinic or make it a regular Friday night event. Each clinic will focus on fundamental skills, cues and progressions that will help to improve the skill level of all players. These are the same training techniques the Hernesman’s used with their collegiate athletes as well as their High Performance athletes while working with USA Volleyball.
Click HERE for specific times and to register. Spots are limited, so don’t wait!
This fall, we’re continuing with another Club Prep Fall 8-week session. Our goal is to continue to train younger athletes and help prepare them for middle school volleyball as well as introduce them to the benefits of training outside of school ball in a club setting.
Our Club Prep program this past spring and summer saw an incredible amount of growth in our athletes and was a huge success. We want to continue to give our younger athletes access to training and continue to grow our sport!
This is what healthy growth looks like! Two years ago, we ran our 1st official clinic with 7 athletes. 24-months later, we have grown immensely! Positive culture. Incredible staff. Proven, college-level training. Family atmosphere. Thank you to all of our families that have put their trust in us!
Mini Club is designed to give playing opportunities to younger athletes in a relaxed setting where the focus can be on fundamental skill training. This is an excellent introduction for young players interested in volleyball.
At Jacksonville Skyline, we employ a “Master Training” concept- including Mini Club. What that means is that all skill instruction and training is coordinated by and directly taught by a “Master” coach. Each team will have a head coach that will then oversee their own players and work with the Master coach to give the individual attention each team member needs.
Our Master Trainers for Mini Club are Steph and Hugh Hernesman- 20+ year college coaching veterans that are currently the Co-Head Coaches at Nease High School, while Steph is the Head Coach at Assumption Catholic School.
