JACKSONVILLE, FL, 1/19/21— Jacksonville Skyline has finalized a lease for a full-time volleyball and training facility to open in late-spring/early-summer. “This is a game changer for our club,” said Co-Owner Hugh Hernesman. “Since we started Jacksonville Skyline in July of 2017 our goal has been to provide the very best for our athletes and their families. This gives us a full-time home that we can call our own.”
The 20,280 square foot facility will have space for 4 training courts and a 2,500 square foot performance and strength room. Additionally, there will be over 3,500 square feet of office space for coaches offices, a conference room, a Pro Shop, concessions and restrooms. It is located at 7022 AC Skinner Parkway- right in the middle of Jacksonville and conveniently accessible from the Jacksonville, Yulee/Fernandina, Orange Park and St. John’s County areas.
“Our club has grown tremendously in the past 3½ years. We started with 3 travel teams and are currently at 12 teams for the 2020-21 travel season,” said Hernesman. “It has been exciting to watch our athletes develop over the past three seasons and we have welcomed in over 70 families to our Skyline Family this club season alone. With this influx of families, we have also seen a large addition of some of the most talented and potential-rich athletes in Jacksonville. We look forward to serving our members in an even more efficient way and with additional training options.”
A general contractor will be selected in the coming days to work on the project. A capital campaign has been established to assist with the one-time construction and equipment expenses. You can learn more about how to donate to this project and Jacksonville Skyline- a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization- by emailing info@JaxSkyline.com.
HUGE NEWS! Coach Price from Florida State will be coming to Skyline for more training for our Jacksonville volleyball community!! There is no other club that can offer this type of access to high level coaches.
OPEN TO ALL ATHLETES- whether you play for Skyline or not. Unfortunately, due to NCAA Division I Dead Period rules, we are only able to offer these clinics to those that are enrolled in 8th grade or younger. Great news!! For those that missed out on signing up for our Wednesday Club Prep, we are now offering a separate Club Prep on Sundays from 4:30-6:00!!
Club Prep is perfect for athletes newer to the sport that want to continue to train after their middle school seasons or just get training so that they can make their middle school teams, high school teams and Skyline travel teams in the future. You can learn more about Club Prep on our Club Prep page link above.
Our extremely popular Club Prep program is back up and running now that Mini Club is about to finish. Club Prep is designed to train younger athletes and help prepare them for middle school volleyball as well as enhance the training of those already involved in their middles school season, but in a club setting.
Many of our travel team athletes got their start in Club Prep. We are very proud of the development that these athletes have shown and love growing our sport with young athletes in a fun and challenging environment!
Go to the CLUB PREP page for more information and to register!
One of Jacksonville Skyline’s goals since the formation of the club in July of 2017 has been to offer the best possible preparation for its athletes. We have patiently waited for a great fit for our club and we have found that with Coach Wesley Brasseal. With over a decade of experience at the NCAA DI collegiate level, Coach Brasseal brings to Skyline a wealth of knowledge and training to help our athletes prepare for the next level.
Please refer to the press release below for further details and visit our PERFORMANCE & STRENGTHpage on our website.
Find yourself a club where ALL players receive high-level training! At Jax Skyline, we implement a “Master Training” philosophy, where our Co-Directors- Hugh and Steph Hernesman- are leading the skill training for every athlete. Veteran coaches with 40+ years at the collegiate level combined, the Hernesman’s have prioritized a common training philosophy within the club. This is drawn upon their experience in learning from some of the best coaches from the highest levels of volleyball in the country!
If your goals are to maximize your talents and to prepare yourself to play at the next level, what better club to play for than the one run by coaches with over 40 years of college coaching experience?? Not only will you train at a high level, your family will also be a part of a POSITIVE, TEACHING and FAMILY oriented CULTURE. Winning is important, but only comes with great culture and great training.
We have officially announced and posted our tryout dates and times for our 2020-21 competitive travel team season. We continue to grow at a healthy level and plan on offering 10 teams at the following ages:
NEW FOR 2020-21: USA Volleyball and AAU Volleyball age definitions have changed from September 1 to July 1. While we prefer and believe it to be best for athletes to play within the age that places them in their corresponding grade, there are some exceptions- especially at the younger levels. See the Age Definition chart below. If you have any questions, please email us at info@JaxSkyline.com.
NEW FAMILY CLUB INFO MEETING: Due to COVID-19 and to simply make things easier, we are hosting our 1st “Virtual” Club Informational Meeting through Zoom. We will discuss our club philosophy, training background and how Skyline takes our athletes to the next level!
